3 Proven Tips for Maximizing Your Morning & Dominating Your Day

Would you say that making progress every day in your body, mind, and spirit would be something you’d love to achieve?

The problem is, many begin their day without a firmly established plan in place and haphazardly attack the day, feeling at the end that they’re surviving instead of succeeding.

Today I’m going to talk about 3 simple habits to manage your morning so you can dominate your day.

Let’s clear the clutter, simplify the essentials, and get more impact and productivity out of every single day by implementing just 3 habits.

 

Habit #1: Hydrate Right Away

After being in bed all night, you’ve lost water through evaporation and both your body and brain need to be rehydrated.

My simple formula, 8-16 oz of filtered water with a squeeze of lemon. Just cut a lemon in half, squeeze it all into your water, and add a pinch of sea salt.

When we choose this over going immediately to the coffee pot, we are giving our bodies and minds a perfect start to the day and setting ourselves up for success in both areas…and it takes just minutes!

I’m a huge fan of coffee, but it’s not ideal as your first line of defense. First hydrate before you caffeinate.

Habit #2: Walk after Waking because Motion is Lotion

Hear me out, I’m not talking about mall walking here, I’m talking about a mosey at the least. Bonus points for a bonafide, arms swinging, chest heaving walk, but I want you to set yourself up for success so let’s look at the MED, the minimal effective dose.

Again, after laying in bed all night, the body has been fairly motionless for hours. The last thing it needs is for us to then go and sit…to read, to scroll, to answer messages. We need to engage blood flow and lymphatic drainage and there’s no better way to do this than by getting into some kind of motion. 

I’ll share exactly what I do by tying it into the next step.

Habit #3: Quiet Time with the Lord before Touching Your Phone

This one has revolutionized my mornings, my days, and my entire life for several years now. When the first thing we do is open our phone to check messages, social media, email, etc…we are allowing those things to shape our minds.

Allowing our thoughts for the day to be shaped by Christ means inviting Him into your day as soon as possible. I don’t know about you, but I’m easily distracted and if I allow other things access to my time before talking to Him, my thoughts are often ill-aligned which means my decisions and choices are often ill-aligned with what they would have been otherwise.

So here’s how I habit stack #2 & #3:

After I hydrate, I talk to the Lord while I mosey around my house, or if the family is up and about, just moseying around my room. So I’m having sweet fellowship with Him, casting my cares on Him, praising Him, while I’m increasing blood flow, getting my lymphatic system moving, and getting my joints in motion to get rid of any stiffness from sleep, AND stimulating collagen production! I love a good habit stack!

After my time walking and talking to the Lord,  I’ll sit and read my bible and whatever self-development book I’m in the middle of at the time. THEN I’ll open my phone to check messages. 

Dominating the Day

So to recap, by hydrating first thing, you’re giving your body and brain what they need to function and think better. By moving instead of sitting, you’re loosening your joints and getting your blood flowing. And by delaying checking your phone before having your quiet time, you’re setting your mind and soul up to make far better decisions with a Christ-aligned focus, making the typical challenges life throws at us daily things you approach from a completely different perspective!
