Jessie is 37!

Yesterday my sister, Jessie turned 37…I can hardly believe it! I remember being 13 and my mom telling me she was pregnant. I had always wanted a sibling and I was FINALLY getting one.

I turned 14 in November…one month later, Jess was born and taken from my mom for the rest of the day as they ran tests. 

When they came back, they announced that she was going to be “mostly a vegetable” for the rest of her life.

Back then, Down Syndrome was still considered so severe that parents were encouraged to find somewhere to “put them away.”

But Jessie had other plans and broke every mold! 

On to today’s topic! 

My 3 Non-Negotiable Age-Reversing Hacks:

I thought a long time about how I would narrow down my 3 top non-negotiables when it comes to aging slowly, aging well, and aging in reverse.

This was difficult because there are many things I employ that I’m passionate about when it comes to this topic…

…but I really wanted to boil it down to what I go out of my way to check off daily and that makes some of the biggest impact in helping me feel, look, and perform my best.

Simple Morning routine – Last week I shared the 3 things I do every single morning that sets me up for success, body, mind, and soul. This made my top 3 because without it, I would simply not have the productive and intentional days I long for. 

You can listen to all the details HERE in episode #72 for my 3 simplified ways of crushing my day which starts with my morning, but in a nutshell, I drink salted lemon water upon waking, then I move around (getting in some steps) while having my quiet time. This is a must, even when I’m traveling! 

Sweat every day – this one has become my most recent focus because it never has been in the past. Sweat a few days a week, sure, but everyday??? Here are just some of the benefits of sweating every. Single. Day.

A. Sweating can lower the risk of kidney stones: A study presented at the 2013 American Urological Association conference in San Diego, Calif., found even walking enough to sweat a bit for a couple of hours a week could cut the risk for developing kidney stones. 

B. Sweating opens pores to release toxins that build up. It causes blood vessels to dilate which increases blood flow, increases circulation, and gives you healthier, younger looking skin…in short, girls, it makes you pretty, k?

C. Speaking of toxins, sweating helps your body get rid of heavy metals, chemicals, helps eliminate BPA from plastics, and so much more!

A few ways you can sweat daily:

  • Exercising enough to work up a sweat.
  • A hot bath can also help you sweat it out a bit, just be sure you are using a good water filter so you’re not inhaling and sitting in chemicals like chlorine

Supplementation – look, you don’t have to use lots of supplements, but I’m dogmatic about the essentials. Our soil is depleted, our crops are sprayed with glyphosate and pesticides, it’s just incredibly difficult to get all of the essential vitamins and minerals your body needs from food alone, even if your diet is “perfect” (whatever that means).

I falter and miss. I get out of routine, and stumble…just like you. I never want you to think I’ve got it all together all the time. But these are the areas I crush most consistently because they’re just that important!
